Set of Cards: How Valuable Is Your Hand?
1 – Royal Flush
This is the best hand to have in a game of poker. It consists of A, K, Q, J and a 10 in the same suit. It could be clubs, diamonds, hearts or spades.
2 – Straight Flush
This is the second-best hand to have in a game of poker. It consists of the same suit of cards like spades in a sequence such as 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
3 – Four of a Kind
This is the third-best hand to have in a game of poker and consists of four cards of equal value, therefore, containing any of the four suits, and one unmatched card. For example, you could have a 4 from clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades.
4 – Full House
A full house contains three cards of equal value like “three of a kind” but it also has two cards of equal value too. For example, you could have a 7 three times, and two kings.
5 – Flush
A flush is in the middle of card values and contains cards all within the same suit but in no particular order. For example, five cards of hearts or five cards of spades.
6 – Straight
A straight is similar to a “straight flush” so it contains a hand in a number sequence but the cards are not of the same suit. For example, 2 (hearts), 3 (clubs), 4 (diamonds), 5 (diamonds), 6 (spades).
7 – Three of a Kind
Like “four of a kind” and a “full house”, three of a kind is three cards of the same value. Unlike a full house, the other two cards are unmatched.
8 – Two Pair
A two pair contains two pairs of equal values and one unmatched card. For example, you have two cards with the number 3, two cards with the number 7, and one card with 8.
9 – One Pair
Unlike the two pairs, this hand only has one pair of equal value. So, just two cards with the number 3, and then three unmatched pairs.
10 – High Card
This card is the weakest and contains five unmatched cards. If all the players also have a high card, then the player with the highest card value wins.
